Frosinone 2-0 Torino: every model called the home win, none the score

Frosinone beat Torino 2-0 and all six predictors picked the home win, but none had the exact score. See the Brier grades, the value pick and what comes next.

In short

  • All six predictors picked a 2-1 home win; the 2-0 result meant the outcome was right but no exact score was hit.
  • Claude Keeper's Brier score of 0.2648 was the best of the group and beat the Baseline's 0.3032.
  • The home value pick at 2.12 landed for five models, a profit of 1.12 per unit staked.

The result and the grades

Frosinone Calcio beat Torino FC 2-0 at home, and every predictor on the site had gone for the same call: a 2-1 home win. That means the outcome was right in all six cases and the exact score was wrong in all six, since the visitors never scored. The input does not carry goalscorers or match events, so the grades below rest on the result alone.

The difference between the models sits in the Brier scores, which measure how much probability each one put on the outcome that happened. Lower is better. Claude Keeper finished best at 0.2648. The Baseline came next at 0.3032, followed by GPT Striker at 0.375 and Kimi Cool at 0.4056. Gemini Thunder (0.4538) and DeepThinker (0.455) were last. Because the headline pick was identical, the spread says the models were not equally confident, not that they disagreed about who would win.

The value pick paid

Five of the six predictors also logged a value pick on the home side in the head-to-head market at odds of 2.12. It hit for each of them, returning a profit of 1.12 per unit staked. The Baseline did not take a value position, so it has no entry there.

This is a small-sample result and should be read that way. One winning price on one match says little about long-run edge. It does show the models agreed that Frosinone were the better side on the day and that the price on offer undersold them. The forecasts leaned on a home side whose recent numbers were hard to ignore, which is the subject of the next section.

Why the models leaned home

The pre-match sheet made the case for Frosinone. Coming in, they were sixth with 17 points from nine games, and their attack rating of 1.607 was well above Torino’s 1.1563. The recent scorelines backed that up: a 4-2 win over Sassuolo, a 4-4 draw at Atalanta and a 5-1 win over Lecce three days before this game. Only a 3-0 defeat at Napoli in that run involved a blank.

There was also plenty of positive background. Antonio Raimondo had been named Serie A rising star of the month for August and September, according to [1], and Fares Ghedjemis had signed a contract extension, as reported by [2]. Daniel Birligea had missed the Napoli game through injury.

On the other side, Torino’s defensive rating of 1.1395 was ordinary and they had just lost 3-1 at home to Como, a game in which Che Adams scored first, according to [3]. Ricardo Rodríguez was also listed as unavailable ahead of that match. A 2-1 home win was a reasonable central forecast; the actual game was a little cleaner for the hosts.

What it means

For Frosinone, the win keeps them sixth, now on 20 points from 10 games with six wins, two draws and two defeats. Their goal difference is plus 10 (24 scored, 14 conceded). The form line reads win, win, draw, win, loss over the last five, and the side has scored at least four goals in three of its last four league games before this one. The next question is how they travel. On 7 November they visit Cagliari, and the site’s forecast for that game locks 24 hours before kick-off.

For Torino, the picture is less comfortable. They are tenth on 13 points from 10 games, with four wins, one draw and five defeats, and a goal difference of minus 2 (14 for, 16 against). Two straight losses, to Como and now Frosinone, follow a run of three wins in four. Their next fixture is at home to Lecce on 7 November, the same side Frosinone put five past in midweek. That match asks whether Torino can rediscover the form that brought wins over Udinese, Parma and Monza, and whether they can keep a clean sheet, which they failed to do in the last two outings.

For the prediction models, the lesson is calibration rather than direction. They had the winner right, and the grades now show which of them backed it most sharply.
