Lazio arrive unbeaten and scoring freely
SS Lazio host Cagliari Calcio at the Stadio Olimpico on 1 November in round 10 of Serie A. Gennaro Gattuso’s side are second in the table with 25 points from nine games. They have won eight, drawn one and not yet lost. Their goal difference is 22 scored and 7 conceded, and their form line reads WWWWW.
The recent results show how much firepower they have. Lazio won 6-2 at Sassuolo on 27 October, beat Parma 2-1 at home three days earlier, and won 3-0 at Juventus on 18 October. Before that came a 3-1 home win over Monza and a 2-0 win at Venezia. Football Italia’s piece on [1] singled out goalkeeper Christos Mandas for seven saves against Venezia, including a stopped penalty. It also credited Nuno Tavares with an assist in that game.
The squad has been reshaped. [2] reported that Danilho Doekhi arrived from Union Berlin on a free transfer. Football Italia confirmed the signings of [3]. On the injury list, Adrian Przyborek was reported out in [4].
Cagliari’s slide and selection questions
Cagliari travel to Rome in much poorer shape. Fabio Pisacane’s team are 11th with 13 points from nine games, with four wins, one draw and four defeats. They have scored 8 and conceded 13. Their form line is LLLDW, and the last three results were all defeats:
- a 4-0 loss at Monza on 19 October
- a 2-0 home defeat to Bologna on 24 October
- a 4-2 loss at Roma on 27 October
That is ten goals conceded in three games. The most recent win was 1-0 at Udinese on 19 September, and a 1-1 home draw with Juventus on 11 October is the only other recent point.
The attack was more promising earlier. [5] described Daniel Maldini as being in excellent form, scoring in a fourth consecutive Serie A game. Cagliari then failed to score in the next two league matches, against Monza and Bologna, so that run has ended.
There are questions around the squad and touchline. [6] listed Pisacane as suspended for the Monza game. The input does not say whether that ban carries over to this match. Football Italia also reported on [7] after he had started all five of Cagliari’s league games to that point.
Head to head and the numbers
The last two meetings were tight. Lazio won 2-0 at home on 3 November 2025, and the return fixture at Cagliari on 21 February 2026 finished 0-0. Cagliari have not scored against Lazio in either game, which is a modest counterweight to the current form gap.
The site’s team ratings point the same way as the table. Lazio’s attack rating is 1.47 and their defence rating 0.85, from a sample of 20 matches. Cagliari’s attack rating is 0.83 and their defence rating 1.16. The Poisson baseline turns those figures into expected goals of 2.29 for Lazio and 0.86 for Cagliari. That puts the most likely score at 2-0. The baseline also gives a 52.0% chance that both teams score and a 60.9% chance of more than 2.5 goals. Cagliari’s most likely scoring outcome is a 1-0 away win, but that carries only a 12.7% chance of an away victory overall.
What the predictions say
All five AI predictors and the baseline favour Lazio.
- Baseline: 2-0, with 69.3% home, 18.0% draw and 12.7% away.
- Claude Keeper: 2-0, 71% home, 16% draw, 13% away.
- Kimi Cool: 2-0, 68% home, 20% draw, 12% away.
- Gemini Thunder: 2-0, 65% home, 20% draw, 15% away. This is the most cautious home-win estimate.
- DeepThinker: 2-0, 70% home, 20% draw, 10% away.
- GPT Striker: 3-1, 75% home, 15% draw, 10% away. This is the most confident home call, and the only one that gives Cagliari a goal.
The reasoning is much the same across them. Lazio have an elite attack, a perfect run of five wins and home advantage. Cagliari have a leaky defence and three straight defeats. Several models also lean on the Pisacane suspension. That is a weaker argument, since the input does not confirm that he is banned for this game.
The main risk to the consensus is the low-scoring pattern of the last two meetings between these sides. The probabilities still sit firmly with the hosts: roughly two chances in three of a Lazio win, and about one in eight for Cagliari.
