Top 10: BEST Liverpool vs Arsenal Premier League games at Anfield Liverpool FC ·

In short

  • Arsenal beat Liverpool 1-0 and lead the Premier League on 24 points from nine games, while Liverpool sit fifth on 15.
  • Kimi Cool, Gemini Thunder, GPT Striker and DeepThinker all picked the away win; only Baseline hit the exact 0-1 score.
  • Claude Keeper backed a 2-1 home win and scored a Brier of 0.7448, the worst of the group.

The result and the grades

Arsenal won 1-0 away at Liverpool, a result that matched the majority of our model picks. Kimi Cool, Gemini Thunder, GPT Striker and DeepThinker all predicted a 1-2 away win. They had the right outcome but not the exact score, because the match finished with one goal rather than three. Baseline predicted 0-1 and was the only entry to get the scoreline exactly right.

Claude Keeper was the outlier. It predicted a 2-1 home win, got the outcome wrong, and took the heaviest penalty on the Brier measure at 0.7448. Brier scoring punishes confident misses, so backing the wrong side with conviction costs far more than picking the right side with a slightly wrong scoreline.

Among the models that called it correctly, GPT Striker graded best with a Brier of 0.455. Gemini Thunder followed at 0.5048, then Kimi Cool at 0.5408 and DeepThinker at 0.545. Baseline, with its exact score, finished at 0.5101, between Gemini Thunder and Kimi Cool. That shows an exact score does not automatically mean the best probability grade, because the grade depends on how much probability was placed on each outcome.

What the pre-match picture suggested

The context sheet leaned toward Arsenal. Their league form read WWWLW, with their only recent defeat a 3-0 loss at Brighton on 19 September. They then won at Nottingham Forest 1-0 and at home to Everton 2-0 in the league. Their defensive rating in our data was 0.6364, against 0.9296 for Liverpool, and a lower figure is better there. Liverpool’s attack rating of 1.0819 sat slightly below Arsenal’s 1.1267.

Liverpool’s recent run was patchier. They lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City on 11 October, then recovered to win 2-1 at Brentford and 2-0 against Brighton. In Europe they beat Villarreal 4-3 after coming from two goals down, a game in which [1] reported Virgil van Dijk made an error leading to Villarreal’s first goal. Conceding three to a Spanish side is not the profile of a team expected to shut out the league leaders.

Squad news added to the picture. [2] listed Cody Gakpo as injured, and [3] noted Conor Bradley had been out since January with a knee injury. Arsenal had their own concerns, including [4] pointing to a lack of chemistry down the right when Ben White was absent. The head-to-head record was tight: Liverpool won 1-0 on 31 August 2025, and the return fixture finished 0-0.

Value picks and calibration

The value picks mirrored the outcome picks. Kimi Cool, Gemini Thunder, GPT Striker and DeepThinker each flagged the away side on the match-result market at odds of 2.415. All four hit, and each returned +1.415 units on a one-unit stake. Claude Keeper’s value pick was the home side at 2.9. It missed and lost its full unit, a swing of 2.415 units against each of the other four picks.

The group result was mixed. Four of five models reached the right outcome, but none of the four named the exact score. They all predicted 1-2, a scoreline that needs Liverpool to score once, and the real game saw Liverpool fail to score. That gap points to a common pattern: the models agreed Arsenal were stronger, but they gave Liverpool a goal where the match produced none. Baseline’s 0-1 call was a simpler, lower-scoring guess that happened to fit.

One match is a small sample, and the grading here should not be over-read. A single 1-0 result does not prove Claude Keeper is a weaker model or that Baseline is stronger. It does show how differently outcome accuracy, exact-score accuracy and probability calibration can rank the same set of predictions on the same night.

What it means

For Arsenal, the win leaves them first in the Premier League with 24 points from nine games, a record of eight wins and one defeat. They have scored 14 and conceded 5. Their last five results across all competitions read W, W, D, W, W, the draw being a 2-2 at Bayern München in the Champions League. The next test is on 4 November, away at Slavia Prague in the Champions League. After a result like this one, the question is whether they can carry the same defensive discipline into Europe.

For Liverpool, the defeat leaves them fifth on 15 points from nine played, with four wins, three draws and two losses, and a goal record of 11 scored and 9 conceded. Their form had been improving with wins over Brentford, Villarreal and Brighton before this loss. The next fixture is Fenerbahçe v Liverpool in the Champions League on 4 November. It asks whether the team that scored four against Villarreal turns up, or whether the one that failed to score against Arsenal does. The site’s forecast for that game locks 24 hours before kick-off.
