Two sides searching for a foothold
Sassuolo and Fiorentina meet at the Mapei Stadium on 2 November (17:30 UTC) in round 10 of Serie A, and neither arrives with much momentum. Sassuolo are 15th with 8 points from nine games: two wins, two draws and five defeats, with 14 goals scored and 22 conceded. Fiorentina are 17th with 5 points, one win, two draws and six defeats, and a goal difference of 11 scored against 21 conceded.
The form lines tell a similar story. Sassuolo’s last five league results read LLLDL, and Fiorentina’s read DLLLD. Neither side has found consistency, and the table gap is only three points. That makes this a fixture in which a single result could change how either club’s season looks. Alberto Aquilani’s side and Fabio Grosso’s side both need something to build on before the autumn gets away from them.
The site’s team ratings are close as well. Sassuolo’s attack figure is 1.04 against 0.92 for Fiorentina, a small edge for the hosts going forward. The defence figures run 1.44 for Sassuolo and 1.22 for Fiorentina, and several of the models read that gap as a point against the home side. The baseline projects expected goals of 1.72 for Sassuolo and 1.63 for Fiorentina, which points to an open game rather than a tight one.
Sassuolo: a heavy defeat to answer for

Fiorentina: new signings, old problems

That draw at least showed a side able to score twice, and they have scored at least once in each of their last five league games. The defensive record is the weak spot, with 21 conceded in nine.

What the predictions say
The Poisson baseline, built from recorded results, leans slightly to the hosts: 40.5% home win, 22.8% draw and 36.7% away win, with a 2-1 home win as its headline pick. It also gives both teams to score a 66.1% chance and over 2.5 goals 65.1%.
The AI models disagree with it. Claude Keeper, Kimi Cool, Gemini Thunder and DeepThinker all pick a 1-2 away win, with away probabilities between 40% and 45%. Their reasoning centres on Sassuolo’s defensive collapse against Lazio and a run of five defeats in nine. DeepThinker is the most confident of the four, at 45% for Fiorentina. GPT Striker is the outlier, choosing a 1-1 draw at 35% and pointing to two struggling teams and the [6] between the sides at Fiorentina.
The head-to-head record is thin. Sassuolo won 3-1 at home in December 2025, and the April meeting finished goalless. Four of five models still lean to Fiorentina, but only narrowly, and the baseline’s lean to the hosts shows how little separates them. Most outcomes remain plausible.
